5 Things I do for an Organized Home!

Hello everyone, and welcome back!

Every time I begin a blog post and greet you guys, I read the welcome intro in a radio talk show host voice.

Does anyone else feel that way?

No? Okay, sorry…cause that’s probably the only way you’ll read it now.

Moving on!

Last Minute Gift Ideas for Him!

Valentine’s Day is literally just around the corner- but I guarantee I don’t need to tell you that, because if you are reading this, you’re probably sweating bullets thinking about good last minute gift ideas for the man in your life.

But don’t stress, I’m here to give you a few low budget ideas that your man will love. I wouldn’t worry about spending a lot of money on a present- it’s not about the money, it’s the thought that counts, and the right people will see that.

Here are my ideas:

  1. An actual Valentine – I actually did this for Kolani last year, and he loved it. It was super thoughtful, and I don’t think he expected me to put as much effort and time into it as I had. This is a super cute, simple idea for the casual couple. I roamed around the craft store in preparation and bought the necessities: scrapbook paper, glue sticks, sharpies, stickers, etc. I cut the paper into a heart and decorated the border with more tiny hearts. In the center of the heart, (I wrote in pencil first, in case of any mistakes), I wrote “Happy Valentine’s Day”. I then went over the writing with a nice thin sharpie. All in all, it was a beachy themed Valentine that he loved. It’s a perfect last minute idea and you won’t have to spend a lot of money!

  2. a Simple Accessory – Maybe your guy mentioned he needs a new wallet, or maybe he would like a new belt. Who knows, but remember the most important thing- men are simple. You won’t have to stress about a certain design or element, you can get him something incredibly plain and simple. I know that a tie or wallet is kind of cliche, but hell if that’s what he wants or needs then why not? I think it’s safe to say that Valentine’s Day mostly caters to women rather than men, so the fact that you would get him a gift would probably mean a lot more than you’d think. And honestly, I would consider looking around at Target (let’s face it, you’ll probably already be there, so why not get his gift, wrapping, and card all in one place?) Talk about efficiency. When Target recently underwent changes and added some new clothing lines, “Goodfellow & Co.” became the new men’s line. I got Kolani a new wallet from this brand and he loved the clean, simple design, with no logos. You can check out all the men’s accessories by clicking here.

3. Pinterest DIY Gifts – There are SO many cute ideas on Pinterest! All of these ideas are simple, affordable and undeniably charming. You can make things from love coupons to candy bouquets, to trips down memory lane. If you haven’t liked the previous suggestions, give Pinterest a try and check out all the cute DIY gifts!

4. Cooking Dinner – I think this one would be especially cute. Again, if you’re more of a casual couple and don’t have any set plans, this might be a good idea. Maybe you both have a favorite meal whether it be what you had on your first date or simply comfort food you both enjoy. You could take charge and cook dinner for him, or you two could team up and cook dinner together. I think if you guys cooked together it would be so romantic, and way more special than an expensive dinner in the city. You can rock out to music, have flirty food fights, and fall in love with each other all over again.

Whatever you decide to do, I’m sure you’ll have a happy and special Valentine’s Day. Just remember, that it’s not about creating a romantic extravaganza. Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love. Realizing how happy you two have made each other- that’s what you’re celebrating.

This has been a chloscall.

Until next time,

3 Ingredient Crockpot Chicken Tacos!

Hello, everyone!

I hope you’re all enjoying the new layout and theme of my blog, I know I am! In today’s post, I’m going to share with you one of my favorite recipes I found on Pinterest a few years ago. The reason I love this recipe so much is because it’s yummy, only 3 ingredients, AND cooks in the crockpot.

2016 was the year I became obsessed with crockpots, and it’s not hard to see why. Honestly every young adult should have one of these bad boys. Whether you’re not that into cooking or just have a busy lifestyle, the crockpot will become your best friend. You can check out some great crockpots by clicking here.

One last thing! Make sure you’re signed up to receive emails for alerts of future blog posts!

Okay, enough raving, time to get into the recipe.

  • 2-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts. (Typically, I use 2 chicken breasts and that’s just enough for my boyfriend and I. Obviously, if you have a bigger family you can add more.)
  • Chicken Taco Seasoning. (You can use whichever seasoning you prefer. I used to use the packets of taco seasoning you find at the grocery store in the soup aisle, but lately I’ve been using the taco seasoning that Kolani and I picked at Costco, pictured below.)
  • 8 ounces Pace Mild Salsa. (Okay so you can have a little more freedom with this one. Maybe you want spicier salsa and by all means go for it. Or maybe you just don’t like Pace. You can use 8 ounces of whichever salsa you’d like. The only reason I specifically chose Pace was because that was the one that was recommended for the recipe.)

(Pictured from Left to right: The first photo is showing the seasoning I picked up from Costco. The second photo is showing the salsa I’ve used and recommend. The third photo is the chicken completely cooked. I shredded the chicken with 2 forks and added some shredded cheddar cheese on top. The last photo is the final product. You can add whatever you’d like to your taco. For this one we added tapatio, chives, sour cream, and shredded cheese).

Let’s get started. Directions:

  • Place 2-4 thawed boneless, skinless chicken breasts into the crockpot.
  • Get out your taco seasoning and coat either side of the chicken breast with the seasoning.
  • Add 8 ounces of salsa into the crockpot with the chicken breasts. (I would recommend really shaking the salsa up before pouring it in, so it’s more chunky. Also, an apron might not be a bad idea at this part, as the salsa may splatter.)
  • If you want really tender shredded chicken, I would recommend cooking this dish on low for 6-8 hours.

Taco Time:

  • You can see if your chicken is done by trying to shred it with a fork or knife. I started cooking my recipe at 11am, and by 5pm it was perfect. I always shred the chicken with two forks, and the meat is so unbelievably tender that it falls off the fork and cuts like butter.
  • Now that your chicken is done cooking, you can get creative. After the chicken is done, I like to add shredded cheese to the top, letting it melt onto the chicken. I’ll set the crockpot on warm and let it keep while I set up the dinner table.
  • Once you’re serving the tacos, you may garnish them with whatever you’d like. As pictured above, my boyfriend enjoys adding chives, sour cream and tapatio.

I hope you all enjoyed this recipe! It’s definitely been a favorite in this household, plus it makes your house smelly heavenly while it’s cooking. Let me now how you liked this recipe in the comments below.
