My July Playlist

It seems like a lot of you enjoyed my last playlist, so I’ve decided to do another!

You all know how much music speaks to me, so I think it’s really fun to share my monthly music faves with you, it’s like “back in the day” when you would be listening to a really great song, then would pop out one of your headphones and hand it to your friend, insisting that they listen.

Marriage Vacation Book Review

Assuming that this book is for women who are having a midlife crisis is jumping to conclusions and you need to hold on a sec.

They always say not to judge a book by its cover, so, ya know, don’t.

The Revolutionary Tampon

Let’s face it- that time of the month is never something us girls are excited about.

But imagine if you lived in a place where feminine products were nearly impossible to find-maybe even obsolete altogether.  Continue reading “The Revolutionary Tampon”

My Fave Bloggers!

For most aspiring bloggers, it’s easy to agree that we were all inspired by one influencer or another. I don’t think we really wake up one day, declaring that blogging will be our profession. I think that we’re lured there by the beauty of the lives that our favorite bloggers live. Continue reading “My Fave Bloggers!”

5 Things I do for an Organized Home!

Hello everyone, and welcome back!

Every time I begin a blog post and greet you guys, I read the welcome intro in a radio talk show host voice.

Does anyone else feel that way?

No? Okay, sorry…cause that’s probably the only way you’ll read it now.

Moving on!

Turtles All the Way Down

IMG_2811.JPG

It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with John Green- I feel like I’ve been pretty vocal about it before as he has become one of my favorite authors. I think he is a phenomenal writer, but what I love most about him is that he’s pretty much just a regular Joe; a father, a husband, residing in quiet Indianapolis.  If his name sounds familiar, it’s most likely because one of his previous novels had taken the world by storm. The Fault in Our Stars was pretty much his big break, obviously you’re welcome to disagree with me, but most know his name from this best selling novel.

Anyways, in the fall of 2017, Green released a new masterpiece- Turtles All the Way Down. I was so excited that he had released another story, I get so lost in his words and feel like I’m also apart of the inner circle with the characters.

Turtles All the Way Down follows Aza, a young girl in high school who constantly struggles with her perception of what being normal is. Along side Aza is her best friend Daisy, an anonymous secretly-kind-of-famous Star Wars fanfic writer. Aza and Daisy partake in seemingly normal teenage girl adventures: homework dates and frequent dinners at Applebee’s.

Little did they know that their lives were about to be turned upside down when they find themselves mixed up in a mystery; is Mr. Pickett really alive or did he actually leave behind his two sons without a word? Aza finds herself emotionally connected as she falls for Mr. Pickett’s eldest son, Davis who she hasn’t seen since childhood.

I found the novel to be an adventurous page turner that I could never really put down. But let’s face it, John Green hasn’t failed me yet. What I really enjoy about this novel is the fact that it focuses on common mental health issues. A lot of people just try to turn the other cheek and pretend as if mental heath isn’t real or isn’t serious, but Green liberates that idea. Green reassures readers that mental health issues can be very serious and are very much a live. I think anyone who has the same feelings Aza does will greatly appreciate and treasure this book for it’s charming honesty.

His and Hers Disney Mugs!

IMG_2685

Okay, so I’m pretty excited to share this with you for multiple reasons. I mentioned these mugs in my What I Got For Christmas Video back in December as they were a gift from Kolani’s mom.

IMG_2684

I’m a ridiculous collector of eclectic mugs- whether I’m getting them from a place I’ve traveled to or I desperately need it living in my limited cabinet space, you won’t really be able to talk me out of a getting a new mug once my heart is set on it.

I mean seriously, how cute are these?! His and hers? Now we can enjoy my favorite Mango Black Tea from Trader Joe’s together with these adorable matching mugs.

Okay, the biggest reason I’m so excited to share this with you is because Kolani and I are going to DISNEYLAND! I’m counting down the days until we leave and of course it seems like the days are dragging on. Neither of us have been to Disneyland since 2013, so I’m looking forward to our first Disney trip together, as well as our first flight together.

With that being said, STAY TUNED because there are many Disney vlogs and blog posts coming soon! Who else loves Disney?! Ahhhh! Click here to get your cute mug!

Last Minute Gift Ideas for Him!

Valentine’s Day is literally just around the corner- but I guarantee I don’t need to tell you that, because if you are reading this, you’re probably sweating bullets thinking about good last minute gift ideas for the man in your life.

But don’t stress, I’m here to give you a few low budget ideas that your man will love. I wouldn’t worry about spending a lot of money on a present- it’s not about the money, it’s the thought that counts, and the right people will see that.

Here are my ideas:

  1. An actual Valentine – I actually did this for Kolani last year, and he loved it. It was super thoughtful, and I don’t think he expected me to put as much effort and time into it as I had. This is a super cute, simple idea for the casual couple. I roamed around the craft store in preparation and bought the necessities: scrapbook paper, glue sticks, sharpies, stickers, etc. I cut the paper into a heart and decorated the border with more tiny hearts. In the center of the heart, (I wrote in pencil first, in case of any mistakes), I wrote “Happy Valentine’s Day”. I then went over the writing with a nice thin sharpie. All in all, it was a beachy themed Valentine that he loved. It’s a perfect last minute idea and you won’t have to spend a lot of money!

  2. a Simple Accessory – Maybe your guy mentioned he needs a new wallet, or maybe he would like a new belt. Who knows, but remember the most important thing- men are simple. You won’t have to stress about a certain design or element, you can get him something incredibly plain and simple. I know that a tie or wallet is kind of cliche, but hell if that’s what he wants or needs then why not? I think it’s safe to say that Valentine’s Day mostly caters to women rather than men, so the fact that you would get him a gift would probably mean a lot more than you’d think. And honestly, I would consider looking around at Target (let’s face it, you’ll probably already be there, so why not get his gift, wrapping, and card all in one place?) Talk about efficiency. When Target recently underwent changes and added some new clothing lines, “Goodfellow & Co.” became the new men’s line. I got Kolani a new wallet from this brand and he loved the clean, simple design, with no logos. You can check out all the men’s accessories by clicking here.

3. Pinterest DIY Gifts – There are SO many cute ideas on Pinterest! All of these ideas are simple, affordable and undeniably charming. You can make things from love coupons to candy bouquets, to trips down memory lane. If you haven’t liked the previous suggestions, give Pinterest a try and check out all the cute DIY gifts!

4. Cooking Dinner – I think this one would be especially cute. Again, if you’re more of a casual couple and don’t have any set plans, this might be a good idea. Maybe you both have a favorite meal whether it be what you had on your first date or simply comfort food you both enjoy. You could take charge and cook dinner for him, or you two could team up and cook dinner together. I think if you guys cooked together it would be so romantic, and way more special than an expensive dinner in the city. You can rock out to music, have flirty food fights, and fall in love with each other all over again.

Whatever you decide to do, I’m sure you’ll have a happy and special Valentine’s Day. Just remember, that it’s not about creating a romantic extravaganza. Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love. Realizing how happy you two have made each other- that’s what you’re celebrating.

The Perfect Travel Makeup Bag

I’ve grown to be a very picky person when it comes to beauty or fashion items on my wishlist. I’ve been searching for a small makeup bag to fit in my purse for a while. I never found a design I liked, and I didn’t want to pay to more than 10$ for a travel bag.

When I went to Target recently, I stumbled across this adorable little bag! It’s the exact size I was looking for and it was only 5.99! I don’t like to carry a ton of makeup with me, but mostly touch up/emergency items, (chapstick, blot sheets, tampons, aleve, hair ties, etc.)

I couldn’t find this exact bag online, but it’s available in store. You can shop others like it by clicking here.
