Pet Emergency: Beware the Asian Beetle!

11.22.15-Asian-Lady-Beetle-Scare1

Hello everyone! Today is not a typical blog post but more of a PSA.

I recently just learned about the Asian Beetle and thought I should share it with you all because as a dog owner, these little guys can hurt your pup and potentially cause serious health risks if left untreated.  Continue reading “Pet Emergency: Beware the Asian Beetle!”

My Fave Winter Nail Polish!

IMG_2169.JPG

This is another one of my favorite winter beauty/style items! I’ve raved about Sally Hansen Miracle Gel before, and this is one of my absolute favorite time winter shades,   V-Amplified.

It’s a gorgeous deep purple color that honestly is so beautiful, I love the winter hues and deep darker colors.

Not only do the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel nail polish have great quality, but they’re also UNDER 10$! Click here to grab yours from Target.

This has been a chloscall.

Until next time,

My 3 Fave Winter Lip Shades

Although I’ve already mentioned a few of my spring favorites, I figured since we still have a little bit of the winter season let, that I should list some of my winter faves as well!

Pictured above are my top three favorite winter shades. Two of them are NYX lip creams (seriously the BEST drugstore lip products), and one is the Sephora house brand.

Transylvania – This is probably the darkest lip color I own. Especially with a name like Transylvania, you can’t help but picture fall time, Halloween, and all the gorgeous dark hues of the winter. You can buy it at Target for under 10$!

Copenhagen  – This is quite a beautiful shade too. Copenhagen is a GORGEOUS burgundy color, (second lip color in the lineup pictured). I used to be obsessed with winter, but I’ve grown to love all the seasons, and all the beautiful colors they bring. I will however be forever obsessed with the darker winter hues, I think the burgundy and purple colors are beautiful. You can buy this one at Target as well for under 10$!

Deep Plum Luster – one of my favorite Sephora Products is this gorgeous plum lip color (the third one in the lineup pictured). It’s such a beautiful deep plum that I fell in love with at Sephora. This was actually kind of risky for me, because I always bought red or pink lip colors but my friend convinced me to buy it. This beauty gamble led me to purchase the other two lip colors pictured above, as well as more nude shades. Click the link to buy yours- they’re on sale for only $5!

My Favorite Dog Training Treats!

IMG_2073

For today’s post, I’m going to be recommending my favorite dog treats that I’ve used to train Ava!

I’ve mentioned Merrick in some of my previous YouTube videos about Ava. The brand was recommended by my sister (she has 3 corgis).

Obviously when we got Ava, it didn’t take us long to start training her. Potty training was top priority on our list, but once that was handled, we wanted to work on obedience and teach her how to perform tricks like rollover or high five.

I watched several YouTube videos about dog training and learned quite a lot. There were some techniques that worked, and some that didn’t.  When you’re training your pup, you’ll want to have some “treats”or rewards handy.

At first, I was using tiny bits of cheese as I read it was one of the recommended “rewards” to give your pup while you’re training them. But I was worried that it would soon upset her stomach so I vouched for the Merrick Lil Plates, since I had already been feeding her Merrick puppy food.

These treats are great for training your pup because they are so small. When you’re training your dog, you want to make sure that you’re obviously not giving them huge treats; you want tiny little bite sized snacks that will reward them as you’re completing each step of the training.

I’m a huge Merrick fan as well, and Ava loves these treats! I got her the Turducken flavor, (because she was sniffing that flavor the hardest at Petco). Another bonus is that these treats are under 10$!

You can pick up your Merrick Lil Plates by clicking here.

My January Favorites

Holy Moley how in the world is January already over?! I hope 2018 doesn’t continue to fly by, cause I have some big plans for this upcoming year.

For today’s post, I’m going to be sharing with you a list of products that I have enjoyed this month. The products will vary from skincare, to beauty, to household items. So without further ado, let’s get right into it.

Skin Care:

Neutrogena Deep Moisture Night Cream Okay, this has easily become one of my holy grail beauty products, it’s amazing! I started using this probably towards the end of December and I haven’t looked back. I was curious about night creams, as I feel like they were more of an old school beauty regimen. But this night cream works wonders, it has made my face so incredibly soft. I apply it once, in the evening before bed, all over my face and neck. What I really like about it is the fact that there’s no greasy feeling or heavy residue. I do love a lot of the Neutrogena products, I’m pretty sure that they were the first makeup brand I tried when I was first using beauty products. I would highly recommend this product, it has saved my skin during these dry winter months.

Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser is one of those products I haven’t used in a while and decided to go back to. Let me just say that it was a very smart move on my part. I don’t like to switch up my facial cleansers too often since it’s bad for your skin, but I had to. I was trying out a Biore cleanser prior to Cetaphil and it turned out to be WAY too harsh on my skin. Cetaphil is a gentle daily facial cleanser that is most likely an underrated drugstore beauty find. I’ve never had really any bad cystic acne; I’ve had breakouts of course and Cetaphil does an amazing job at keeping my skin clear. This has become another staple item in my skin care routine that I do not plan on parting with anytime soon.

Pond’s Hydrating Dry Skin Cream I’ve been using Ponds moisturizer for YEARS now. I used to use an Olay moisturizer but decided to switch to Ponds, because I found that the Olay moisturizer was too greasy. I use Ponds every morning, after I wash my face with Cetaphil, I spread a little over my face and neck. I’m a big believer in moisturizer, especially this time of year. Ponds has been around forever and if I’m able to use a beauty product that my grandmother used, you bet I’m going to be getting my hands on it.

Beauty:

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm – A classic item. It seems there is a theme here of moisturizing products in this blog post, but then again it is winter. Chapped lips are another one of my pet peeves, as I imagine a lot of people could agree, it’s just such an unsettling feeling. I got Burt’s Bees because I love how natural their products are. I got a pack of 2, so I could keep one in my purse and one in my vanity in the bathroom. There’s no heavy residue with this lip balm either, so it’s reliable and moisturizes well.

Pet:

Urine Destroyer – So I was going to add a link to this spray I’ve used for Ava’s messes, but Target doesn’t have it available on their website. It’s by the Target house brand up & up, and it’s labeled as a stain + odor eliminator. It’s a great product, and I would highly recommend checking it out next time you’re at Target. I’ve attached the link of a similar product.

Books:

Shopgirl by Steve Martin – This was a birthday present gifted to me by my sister. I have a lot of mixed feelings about this book. I found myself struggling to get into the book at first; I didn’t really have an emotional connection with any of the characters so I wasn’t that invested. But halfway through, I found myself more interested in the outcome of the book; there were a few plot twists that had occurred and I was interested in seeing how everything would turn out. It’s also acknowledged that many twenty somethings are not going through the same romantic struggles as Mirabelle, seeing as it’s a bit unusual. If you’re in between books I’d suggest reading this one, since it’s only 130 pages and actually left me thinking about the story and the characters once I finished the novella.

Movies:

Me Before You – Alright ladies, you better grab some tissues cause you’re destined to shed some tears with this flick pick. As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t go out to the movies often, for a multitude of reasons (too pricey, loud people, the inability to pause for a bathroom break). It’s been on my list to see this movie just for kicks, and since I’m an Amazon Prime member, the movie is free to watch. To be honest, I really enjoy movies like this one. The story is set around two characters, Louisa Clark and Will Trainor. Louisa is that charming, quirky girl who everyone can’t help but love. Will is a thrill seeker turned bitter paraplegic after a horrific accident. Sure, the two characters seem far from similar but by the unwritten rules of the romantic comedy world, these two end up as star crossed lovers. It reminds me a lot of the movie If I Stay , another one of my absolute favorite movies. I think the plot of these movies remind the audience that you need to be grateful for what you have, because in a minute, everything can change.

Stardust – This movies is FANTASTIC. If you’re finding yourself stuck on the couch with your significant other unable to pick a movie to watch, then you’re in luck (this movie used to be included on Amazon Prime, but now it’s available on Netflix, so you’re welcome). This movie has everything to entertain both parties; romance, adventure, fantasy, action, and great humor. The story follows Tristan, a young man who wishes to cross a forbidden wall into a magical universe in order to find a shooting star that has fallen out of the sky, and bring it back to his love Victoria. He has one week to do so, and it’s safe to say Tristan wasn’t prepared for the adventure that awaited him..and neither are you.

Food:

3 Ingredient Crockpot Chicken Tacos! Yes, this month I’ve enjoyed this easy crockpot recipe so much! Definitely check it out if you haven’t yet, and be prepared for more yummy recipes coming soon.

House:

Zuede Silicone Sponges – I wrote about these earlier, but they are a very interesting product and wonderful to use. Click the link to read the full review and get a pair!

Technology:

Bragi The Headphone Review – It’s been a little over a month since I first got these, and they’ve been great. Click the link to read the full review and grab yours!

Samsung Chromebook – If you’re in need of a new laptop (bonus if you’re anti Apple products) then this might be the laptop for you. I got this laptop in early January and I’ve become obsessed with it. It’s small, sleek, light and fast. Good news is, it’s not going to break the bank either as it’s UNDER 200$! Better hurry though, there aren’t many left on Amazon. I’ll be posting a full review soon.

I hope you guys have all enjoyed my January favorites!

This has been a chloscall.

Until next time,

Chloe

Trying the Taco Bell Nacho Fries

My assumptions are that a majority of the readers of today’s blog post are divided into two simple categories: who cares and how were they?

Yes, yes, I’ve tried Taco Bell’s newest addition: the Nacho Fries. As almost anyone can agree, I always try to eat moderately healthy but in a moment of weakness, the nacho fries had piqued my interest.

I’ve had plenty of early morning adventures with Kolani where we were on the road before the sun came up, and stopped off to grab a quick Steak A.M. crunchwrap and Mountain Dew Kick Start because hey, no one is perfect and fast food is sometimes the last resort.

Also if you’re the occasional Taco Bell customer such as myself, you know that they have almost no decent side orders, *shuddering at the thought of mini cinnabons*.

So alas, I decided to give in and try this new “hot” item. From what I could see on the menu, they had few varieties of these fries. They have a side order of Nacho Fries (pictured above), Nacho Fries Supreme, and a Nacho Fries Box.

Let me just start off by saying if you don’t regularly consume fast food, it can taste either disgusting or really good, considering it’s been a while since you’ve last had it.

So, the final verdict?

They weren’t bad. I’ll admit, they were relatively flavorful as all mediocre fast food is, (leave In-N-Out out of this, their food is straight from the heavens). But honestly though, if I had order the supreme version or the fries box, I probably would have gotten sick.

They’re good if you have a craving, are in need for a quick cheap snack or have the munchies. But I don’t see myself having these again for a while, which is convenient considering they’re here for a limited time.

This has been a chloscall.

Until next time,

Chloe

Zuede Silicone Sponges

For today’s blog post, I’m going to be recommending one of my new favorite household items.

One of my biggest pet peeves is having dirty sponges for washing the dishes. I typically change them out often, as they eventually start to smell, and the idea of all that bacteria soaking in gives me the creeps.

I was browsing amazon to see what deals they had on sponges and came across Zuede. These aren’t ordinary sponges, they’re actually made out of silicone!

I was curious about them and decided to give them a try. The package contained two silicone sponges along with two standard sponges.

I used one to clean my bathtub and the other one to obviously wash my dishes. The only negative thing I would have to say about the sponge is the fact that since they are silicone, it isn’t entirely reliable on really tough spots. They are a little flimsy, so it’s better to use them on easy stains.

Overall, I love these sponges and I can’t wait to continue using them.

You can grab your sponge here off of Amazon.

This has been a chloscall,

Pictured above, wearing San Paulo.

Okay y’all I am OBSESSED with NYX lip creams. They are amazing and come in a variety of beautiful shades.

The two I have selected are delightful pink colors that I love wearing this time of year- I feel almost as if I could match the flowers!
