Weight Loss Update Part 5

Hi friends, it’s been a while since I’ve done an update on the blog here regarding weight loss, so I figured now would be a good time to do so.

As you know, I’ve started taking my health much more seriously while in lockdown earlier this year. And now with New Year’s just around the corner, those “New Year, New Me,” resolutions are beginning to swirl around in my head.

It’s difficult around the holidays to stay on track and eat a healthier diet with nothing but temptation lingering at ever corner. But something I’ve reminded myself and I want to remind you is to not make yourself feel guilty for indulging. Drink that hot cocoa, munch on those sugar cookies and devour that Christmas ham.

Don’t weigh yourself down by thinking that one dinner or little holiday treats will destroy you because they won’t. Don’t obsess over the scale and weigh yourself constantly, it’s unrealistic and a bad habit to get into.

I won’t lie, I’ve hesitated on enjoying a couple of treats because I was worried about gaining weight. Instead, I’ve shifted my focus to being excited about the New Year, and maintaining my healthy lifestyle. Right now, I’m not shooting for a specific number I need to be at by Summer, I’m looking to add more veggies in my diet, getting more steps in, things like that.

Focusing on numbers whether it’s weight or calories is so calculating and exhausting, who needs it? I think we should all be grateful that we’ve made it through this tumultuous year. Maybe the big goals you had set to accomplish this year didn’t happen, but it doesn’t matter! You survived, and for that, you’ve already won.

I didn’t get everything done this year that I wanted, but I learned a lot of new things about myself and realize that I have all the time in the world to do whatever I dream of doing. We are young, determined, capable people.

I won’t jinx it and say that 2021 is going to be our year, (because honestly this year has been traumatizing), but there is always light at the end of the tunnel and no matter what you’re going through right now, it will get better. You just have to believe in yourself and have faith.

Happy New Year everyone! Stay safe & healthy.
