How We Got Ava!

By now, you probably all know about my dog Ava. She is the light of my life and our furbaby, since Kolani and I don’t have kids lol. Getting Ava has truly changed our lives and I thought it would be fun to walk down memory lane, share some pics and stories of how we found her, got her, etc.

Okay so just to cover the basics, Ava is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Miniature Australian Shepard mix. She’ll be three this year on August 25th.

So all of this happened very quickly to be perfectly honest. Kolani & I had been together for about 8 months, when we found Ava. I can still remember when we first saw her. Kolani and I were having dinner at my sister’s house, and he was falling in love with her dogs- Shelby (a pembroke welsh Corgi), Cinna (abother Pembroke Welsh Corgi), and Cali (a pitbull, corgi mix).

Kolani was won over by the charm of Corgi’s personalities. He then asked my sister where she had found the dogs and she suggested a couple of websites of known (and safe) breeders.

I do understand that there might be opposing opinions of how we got Ava, and I do understand where those opinions are coming from, but rest assured Kolani & I looked around and made sure we would be getting her from a safe place and not a puppy mill.

After searching for a while, we found Ava. That weekend, we drove up to a beautiful farm in Northern Washington and met her for the first time when was just 5 days old.

It seemed like the longest eight weeks until we were finally able to bring her home. We visited her a few times until the time finally came, and we brought her back to our apartment.

Right before we picked her up.

It’s crazy to think that we’ve already almost had her for three years. I would highly recommend getting a pet guys, it’s the most rewarding thing. We’ve had the best times with her, and shes been there for us through the not so great times.

I’m going to include some of my fave pics of Ava from over the past few years.

Okay, truth be told I have probably thousands of photos of Ava on my phone, so I won’t bombard you with all of them. But I hope you enjoyed this story of how we got Ava! It was about time I shared this story. Don’t forget to follow the blog and comment below if you have a furry companion as well!
